The Parrot Behaviour Wellness Program is designed to guide parrot guardians through the essential early steps of care, training, and relationship-building so you and your bird can thrive together.
What’s Included:

The Parrot Behaviour Wellness Program is a structured, supportive learning experience for new and experienced parrot owners. We will focus on:
- Understanding parrot behaviour and natural needs.
- Setting up the environment that supports physical and emotional wellbeing.
- Developing essential skills such as independent play, foraging, step ups, going back to their cage, taking medication, going into their carrier, nail trims, body handling and restraint for veterinary procedures, weight checks and so much more!
- Preventing common behaviour problems before they arise.
- Strengthening the human-bird bond through trust-based interactions.
Each session includes a written report catered to your birds specific challenges and needs. You will also receive handouts and videos to supports your training journey.
How The Program Works
1. Personalized Assessment
To help us tailor the program to your unique situation we begin by learning about you AND your bird.
- Review their medical history, learning history, diet and environment.
- Your goals, concerns and limits.
2. Environment & Enrichment Plan
With the assessment we will then make recommendations to support your birds welfare which will facilitate learning and decrease undesirable behaviours.
- Cage size, placement, and layout.
- Perches, toys, and an introduction to foraging exercises.
- Parrot proofing your home.
- Safe and unsafe products to have in your home.
You get specific, realistic changes that match your space and budget.
3. Parrot Behaviour & Training Plan
Using humane, evidence-based teaching, you’ll learn:
- How to read your birds body language.
- How to teach and reinforce desirable behaviours using marker based training.
- Teaching core skills such as target training and how we use these skills to teach other behaviours.
- Build comfort around taking medication, nail trims, carriers and toweling for veterinary exams.
- How to encourage independent play to reduce risk of co-dependency.
- How to address common challenges such as:
- Not wanting to return to their cage.
- Nipping or biting.
- Excessive vocalization.
- Destructive chewing.
- Feather destructive behaviour.
4. Ongoing Support
New questions and problems always show up once you start. Each package offers multiple sessions for us to troubleshoot and work through setbacks.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is a stable, sustainable relationship where both bird and human have tools to live in harmony.
